Google PageRank dropped? There is no reason for concern

The most recent PageRank update sparked some intense discussion in the blogosphere with people like Steve Rubel, John Battelle, Danny Sullivan and Dave McClure joining the conversation.

Danny Sullivan was surprised when Google PageRank of SEL has dropped from 7 to 6 - "Not that this is important, but it is no good reason to happen." Matt Cutts then pointed to this article by Udi Manber, who suggests that Google "has made significant changes to the PageRank algorithm in January, and that may be the cause of the fall in PageRank.

John Battelle asked Google PageRank reduction or complete or "Give us more granularity, so that users know how to, how that PageRank data used to determine the value of the Google economy."

Dave McClure has made a very intelligent comment, I say "if PageRank does not matter, why is it so you can see displayed in the taskbar?" His reasoning is that if PageRank does not matter to completely remove it from the toolbar, but if it matters, then Google should offer more explanation.

Steve find agree that Google PageRank, although imperfect, are still up on the "network of influence", as he judges you based on the links of all kinds of sources, not just people who live in the same fish tank .. Creating high-quality content that earns links from other sources, quality and, over time, your Google Page Rank, as increasing your influence and responsibility. "

Finally, Vanessa Fox has jumped in some great ideas. She ex-Googler and best known for the creation of Google Webmaster Central - a tool that has proved so useful for publishers.

Vanessa said that Google supports two different PageRanks - one internal, which is evaluated on a regular basis, but the one that you see on the Google Toolbar is an external PageRank, that is updated infrequently. So if your current PR is displayed as 5, the actual PR may be 2 or even 7, and you'll know it is only during the next round of updates PageRank.

Vanessa points to a comment by Matt Cutts, where he said that PageRank is only one of the 200 + signals Google uses for ranking Web pages in search results.

PageRank my Blogger blog has dropped from 7 to 6, in this update, but it is something that really does not matter. Vanessa quote again: "If there is one thing that PageRank is not, the definition of your Google footprint.
